Opportunity – Lomi School Foundation (founded in 1978) / Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic (founded in 1987) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation located in Santa Rosa, California. Lomi is seeking an Executive Director for our long-standing mental health training and community service organization.

Our Mission – To provide high quality, affordable, and accessible mental health care and education to our community and professionals, specializing in a mindfulness-based, integrated model of care.

Background - Lomi is an integral part of the Sonoma County mental health care delivery system. We are a licensed mental health facility and an approved training facility for Trainees and Associates at different levels of their licensure process, from pre-graduate to post-graduate interns. Lomi offers integrative therapy services for those experiencing symptoms of mental health conditions like depression and anxiety, struggling with interpersonal relationships and communication, dealing with grief or loss, managing stress, coping with traumatic experiences, and other needs. Lomi provides a safe and confidential space where individuals, couples, and families can explore their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Executive Director Role – The Executive Director is an authorized representative of the Lomi Board of Directors and is responsible for sustaining and improving our operations with oversight of Finance, Operations, Programs, Development, Communications, Human Resources, and Staffing. The Executive Director is required to carry out the policy decisions and strategic plans of the Lomi Board of Directors. The Executive Director reports directly to the Lomi Board of Directors. In addition, the Executive Director is expected to identify, initiate, oversee and manage fundraising opportunities related to donors, grant proposals and foundation requests.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising, Outreach & Grant Writing

  • Research, coordinate, organize, and submit foundation grants, meet with major donors, and cultivate donors through written correspondence, in-person meetings and constant follow up to ensure Lomi’s financial stability.

  • Oversee and manage the implementation of special events (i.e., Human Race, Online Auction, etc.).

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to cultivate, manage, and retain donors and funding.

  • Partner appropriately with Lomi Administrative Staff and the Board of Directors to build and implement fundraising strategies.

  • Serve as the face of our organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, and market brand, and develop strategic partnerships to further increase community awareness and expand programs.

  • Coordinate Outreach such as advertising, public relations, donor relations, business sponsors, specific populations to include agencies, schools, churches, etc.

Operations

  • Work closely with the Administrative Director to coordinate operational efficiency.

    • Current and Future Space Rentals and Purchases

Financial Management

  • Oversees long range fiscal planning in order to ensure the continuity and solvency of the organization.

  • Reports to the Board of Directors regularly on the financial health of the organization.

  • Works closely with Administrative Director in preparing financial reporting.

  • Manages any legal issues that may arise.

Human Resources

  • Oversee Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, and Organizational Development.

  • Assure compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to sustain a positive, collaborative culture.

  • Directly supervise the Clinical Director, Administrative Director and Staff Psychologist, including recruitment, professional development, and performance evaluation.

Board Development

  • Convey information about goals and initiatives to empower effective Board of Directors support.

  • Oversee and support the Board of Directors in identifying, recruiting, and on-boarding prospective board members.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, social or human services, business administration, or related field required.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a nonprofit organization.

  • Direct experience and knowledge of public relations, fundraising, and marketing.

  • Experience in securing financial support for a 501(c)(3) organization.

  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles for nonprofit organizations.

  • Proven success working with a board of directors.

  • Team oriented, approachable, and able to work with and lead various personalities, roles and skillsets.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills and experience with framing concepts for a philanthropic audience.

  • Critical thinking and strategy.

  • Commitment to equity and inclusion as organizational practice and culture.

  • Strong working knowledge of MAC Computers and Microsoft Office Applications.
