Xandra Aguero

Marriage & Family Therapist Trainee

My name is Xandra Aguero, I have a theoretical orientation of psychodynamics and person-centered, with an emphasis on multicultural counseling. I am deeply committed to social justice advocacy and hold the belief that meaningful global change begins at the individual level. In being intentional about the spaces I cultivate with my clients, I aim to create a welcoming environment where clients from diverse backgrounds, and identities can come as their authentic selves. Drawing from my dance background, I offer a lens that emphasizes the relationship between the mind and body, which serves as the foundation for an integrated family systems model, where we can explore how body sensations and experiences are connected to family relationships and dynamics, allowing us to understand these complexes more comprehensively. Armed with insight, it is my belief that one can gain the ability to shape one's life into a place of healing and empowerment. Grounded by the understanding that clients are the experts in their own lives, I am here to work collaboratively with clients to provide guidance, empathy, and support.

Some of my experience includes domestic violence, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, youth in the foster system, and women's issues.
